Shiga Kogen, in Nagano prefecture, is the biggest ski resort in Japan, with the highest peak. Because it is so high up, the ski season starts early in Shiga Kogen, with snowfall as early as mid-November.
There are 18 resorts in Shiga Kogen. We run group lessons out of Hotel Khuls in Ichinose Family Ski Resort. Prince Hotel in neighbouring Yakebitai is also an option for families who prefer private lessons. Over in Okushiga, Grand Phenix is a classic luxury hotel that hosts the Japanese Royal Family whenever they ski in Shiga Kogen.
Shiga Kogen is the perfect destination for your next ski adventure. Renowned for its powdery snow and diverse terrain, Shiga Kogen offers something for everyone, from beginners to advanced skiers. Our ski programme combines top-notch instruction with the natural beauty of the region. The ski-in-ski-out accommodation at all three hotels we work with is ideal for families with young children.
December 2026 ski camp open for bookings. 4-9 Dec, 9-15 Dec, 15-21 Dec, 21-27 Dec.
