Kita-Karuizawa

Upcoming: 1-5 June, 8-12 June 2026

Wild & Free: Learning from Nature, Summer Camp

A five-day immersive escape designed for kids and teenagers ages 7-15 to learn, play, and reconnect with nature. Nestled in the serene forests of Kita-Karuizawa, this experience invites both adults and children to explore the outdoors through hands-on activities that engage the senses, spark curiosity, and inspire a love for the natural world.

From fire-starting and cooking over an open flame to creating forest art and discovering micro-creatures up close, every day is filled with opportunities to observe, create, and experience nature in a whole new way. Parents and children bond over shared moments of discovery, whether baking twist bread over a campfire or making their own kaleidoscopes from found materials.

Camp Dates: 1–5 June or 8–12 June. Choose your preferred week.
Check in the afternoon before camp begins, and check out the morning after the final day.

We accept kids younger than 7 on a case by case basis.

Campsites: Outside Base, Sweet Grass & more

Outdoor activities for the multi-site summer camp will take place across several campsites in Kita-Karuizawa, selected to suit different programme needs. These include Outside Base, Sweet Grass, and other sites within the area, each offering settings best suited to specific activities.

Kita-Karuizawa enjoys cool, breezy June temperatures of around 18°C—about five degrees cooler than Karuizawa—making it ideal for outdoor programmes. The campsites are set amidst tranquil, expansive nature and feature modern, well-maintained facilities. Some sites are located just across from the accommodation at Asama Kusanbo and can be reached in under five minutes by resort buggy, while others are slightly further away with transportation arranged.
